The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 1997 with the motive of imparting quality computer education to women students. B.Sc Computer Science course was introduced with the intake capacity of 20 students. As ours was the only Women’s college during inception, there was an urging need for the introduction of PG Course.
M.Sc Computer Science was started in the year 2003 with intake capacity of 25 students. With the increasing demand in Computer Science, shift system was introduced and an additional section in B.Sc Computer Science was started in 2007. In 2013-14, the strength was increased to 30 in both the shifts. Due to the overwhelming response from the students, the strength has been increased to 60 in both the sections of B.Sc Computer Science and M.Sc Computer Science courses from the academic year 2021-22 onwards with the current strength of 120 students in UG and 60 students in PG.
The department is equipped with well-furnished computer laboratories with recent software for providing practical training to students. Multimedia LCD projector and smart class room facilities are available in the computer lab to enhance practical demonstration.
The department library is housed with nearly 1500 books. All the Staff members are effectively utilizing ICT tools for teaching. E-learning is encouraged for the students through Google class rooms. The department is functioning successfully with 2 regular faculty, 8 guest lecturers and 1 programmer. The faculty members act as mentors, guiding students to develop technical skills and soft skills.
